Hakim Tafari is originally from the UK and currently resides in the Los Angeles area. After an injury and illness led him to acupuncture in the mid-90s, he was introduced to mindfulness and herbal medicines, which helped him adopt a lifestyle that supports well-being.
For over 20 years, Hakim has been practicing martial arts, specializing and sharing the practice of Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong. He has also become vastly skilled in the Eastern bodywork of Shiatsu/Thai Yoga Massage and the Five Element Theory.
Hakim is a Buddhist Dharma practitioner and meditation facilitator who blends his meditative practice with street and trail running. He shares how the practices of running and mindfulness offer a place of refuge for those seeking peace and balance in their lives. In the last few years, Hakim has found great passion in running, trail running, cycling, and Jiu Jitsu. Hakim’s mission is to build bridges between mindfulness, sports, and social justice.
As a social activist, Hakim promotes well-being, movement, and natural medicines. Hakim is passionate about mindfulness and social awareness and believes they are his essential tools to help family, friends, and the community at large. He believes mindfulness is useful for all who seek to walk (or run) a path of compassion without judgment or ego for the greater good of all beings.
