| Description |
Geastrum saccatum Fr. Image location: Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca, Mexico In a subtropical hardwood forest. Starts out looking like a brown puffball with a very thick skin and white bag inside. Spores globose, 4 – 5.5 micrometers, spiky, with nearly 1 micrometer spines. Capillitial threads 3 – 5 micrometers, most are 4. Light yellow in KOH, occasionally encrusted. Herbarium specimen is in the Oaxaca 2012 bag. Recognized by sight 125x SEM
