BIG SUR, Calif., May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Esalen Institute today announced the appointment of Silicon Valley engineer, entrepreneur and executive coach, Ben Tauber, to its Board of Trustees.

In keeping with a passion for "helping start-up founders live their purpose," Tauber has been actively involved with Esalen since 2012.  He also joined leading business leaders under 40 invited to an Esalen conclave convened in 2013, which aimed to connect and cultivate fellowship among leaders in a growing "conscious business" movement.

"We're delighted to welcome Ben to our Board of Trustees at this pivotal time for renewal at Esalen," said Sam Yau, Chairman of Esalen. "We look forward to an infusion of fresh perspective and energy from the next generation of leaders like Ben on our Board at a time when the need for positive change within self and society has never been more vital."

"I'm humbled by the opportunity to make a difference to the future of Esalen, an iconic institution that's been the center of the human potential moment and has been the home of my own personal transformation," said Tauber.

Currently, Tauber is building a new venture designed to enable entrepreneurs to reach their full potential. He also serves as advisor to Zesty, a service to deliver healthy food to companies, and Coach.me, a service that provides instant coaching for any goal.

Most recently, Tauber served as a product manager at Google, with responsibility for expanding and improving Google Hangouts and other social products. In 2009, Tauber co-founded Scoopler, which launched the first real-time search engine and was acquired by Google in 2011. Before that, Tauber served as product manager and engineering lead at Adobe Systems. Tauber enjoys building things, playing music, rock climbing, and meditation. He earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego.
