Andrea Juhan

Andrea has approached embodiment through many doorways: bodywork, yoga, dance, hiking, being a mother, a lover, through Somatic psychotherapy, meditation, professional trainings, academic programs, and constant dedicated practice.

The following areas have had an enormous influence on Andrea’s work:

  • Twelve years as a community member at Esalen Institute, where she studied Gestalt Awareness Practice with Chris and Dick Price, Movement with Anna and Daria Halprin and Gabrielle Roth, and many other astounding teachers in the fields of humanistic psychology and the healing arts. Andrea taught bodywork and dance and worked on the massage crew.
  • Training with Gabrielle Roth in the 5Rhythms® inspired her teaching and training globally for over thirty years.
  • Education and work in clinical somatic psychology as a licensed marriage and family therapist and training faculty for the Rosenberg Institute for Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP).

The medium of Andrea’s work is Movement. And through the moving body, her work’s aim is toward emotional and relational intelligence, skillful regulation of lived experience, vitality, community building, meditation, artistic expression, soul searching, and spiritual practice.

Andrea is a co-founder of Open Floor International, a school devoted to embodied movement that includes Therapy in Motion, a professional continuing education program for therapists.

Andrea Juhan is a licensed psychotherapist and has a PhD in Dance/Movement Therapy. She is fascinated by the journey of becoming an attuned, skillful inhabitant of a human body. Her embodiment approach is channeled through bodywork, yoga, dance, psychotherapy, and meditation, as well as through professional training, academic programs, and constant dedicated practice.
